The Ask
For our fashion forecasting project, we were asked to identify and predict a trend for Spring Summer 2027 by analyzing cultural shifts and examining recent runway collections. The goal was to connect emerging societal influences with designer direction in order to develop a clear, research based vision of what will shape the season’s aesthetics.

The Process

Conceptualization
By identifying and examining the zeitgeist of 2025, we came up with a theme based on media manipulation and division.

We examined current cultural references such as political figures, media, and movements.

We collected a variety of textiles, prints, runway looks, and streetwear looks that best represented this shift in the zeitgest.

The Outcome
It is predicted that muted and mature colors will be paired with light and gentle colors to symbolize the power dynamics of unity against media suppression. Subtle pops of vibrant colors, specifically red, are also expected to have a re-emergence in popularity as a way of revolting against those in power.
Additionally, it is predicted that woven and knitted fabrics and patterns will gain attention due to it embodying the overall idea of versatility, resistance, and its deep historic roots relating to self expression and storytelling. Classics, such as denim, will be reimagined and worn in a way that that defies the status quo.
Lastly, it is predicted that bold and eccentric looks that demand attention will become highly sought-after, specifically mismatched prints and long capes. Additionally, more understated pieces such as sheer dresses and eye coverings demonstrate the idea of subtle protesting during a time of overall uncertainty and unrest.
